Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has finally addressed his rivalry with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after being fronted to replace the latter as President William Ruto's 2027 running mate.
Speaking during a tour in Tana River County on Friday, Ndindi Nyoro affirmed his support for Gachagua, who is facing stiff opposition from a section of lawmakers from Mt Kenya.
Nyoro maintained that he trusts in the leadership of Ruto and Gachagua and will support them in achieving their legacy.
"We as members of Kenya Kwanza, all of us, have given our President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua total and unconditional support as they lead our nation.
"When the two are in front, all of us including me, are the foot soldiers for our leaders. Our work is to support them. We are committed because we have a vision and a plan to take the country's economy forward. After all, if Kenya succeeds, everyone else succeeds and that is why we support our leaders," he stated.
Notably, apart from describing Gachagua as his boss, he also referred to him as a very good friend and close confidant.
However, despite rallying behind Gachagua, the MP did not reveal whether he was interested in the Kenya Kwanza running mate position.
On the other hand, he did also not call for those pushing for his candidature to desist from criticising the DP.
The Kiharu MP was fronted as Gachagua's replacement by leaders from Murang'a County who accused the DP of dividing Mt Kenya leaders.
On his part, Gachagua condemned them for disrespecting the President who has barely served for two years.
"The people do not want to hear about elections. They do not want to hear who will be elected where. They want service delivery, electricity, water and other forms of development," the DP hit back at them while at an event in Bomet County.
Meanwhile, Ruto also urged leaders in his camp to desist from succession politics, urging them to unite and help him accomplish his agenda.
"Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and I said that we would mentor these young men. They should go slow while we are mentoring them because if they go too fast they will spoil things. Relax, do not be in a hurry," Ruto appealed.
