Law Society of Kenya  (LSK) president Eric Theuri on Sunday revealed that one advocate, Beatrice Ng'ethe, had been abducted.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Sunday, Theuri alleged that the advocate was abducted by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday morning from her home in Kiambu County.

"We have learnt that the DCI abducted one of our members by the name Beatrice Ng'ethe on Friday morning and her whereabouts remain unknown.  We have visited several police stations to trace her in vain. The family has been tossed around different police stations," he stated.

Theuri revealed that the lawyer was taken in for interrogation after a fugitive, Kevin Kang'ethe, reached out to her for legal advice.

"The detectives and police officers say the fugitive called her seeking legal advice," Theuri noted.

Theuri noted that the advocate's family had been to numerous police stations but had not found their daughter. On Saturday, they were informed that she was at Karen Police Station.

However, when they arrived, they were directed to Gigiri Police Station, and they went there on Sunday morning.

Their efforts have been futile, and no one has given them the correct information about her whereabouts.

"The family had no idea where she is up to now. They are being told she is under interrogation, " Theuri stated.

After futile efforts to locate the lawyer, Theuri directed another advocate to file an urgent habeas corpus application in court. This will require those holding the Ngethe to present her before a court to determine whether her detention is lawful.

He further directed members of the public to turn up at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road on Monday, February 12 to protest the attack on the profession adding, " An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us."

Notably, Kang'ethe escaped from the Muthaiga Police Station on Thursday last week. Reportedly, the man accused of killing his girlfriend in the US last year was talking to his lawyer before fleeing the station.

After the escape, the police officers on duty were transferred. Police are still looking for the fugitive who was set to be extradited to the US.
