A motorist based in Narok was on Friday, February 23, left reeling from his losses after he was robbed of Ksh75,400 and his vehicle, a white Toyota Probox, while en route to Olokirikirai Trading Centre.
According to a police report obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the motorist offered a lift to two strangers at around 8:00 pm in Narok town, with the duo requesting to be dropped at Tipis.
Upon reaching the trading centre, the two men reportedly accosted the driver and ordered him to surrender the car keys.
The two, armed with knives, threatened to stab him if he didn't give in to their demands.
Ceding to their will, the 34-year-old driver surrendered the keys and showed readiness to comply with their other demands.
The two suspects, while assuming control of the steering wheel, pushed the driver into the back seat, tied him up with a rope and covered his mouth with a piece of clothes.
They then drove the vehicle up to ADC Farm in the Tipis area where they robbed him of Ksh75,400 and seized the vehicle. Police, however, did not reveal whether the money was either in cash or from his mobile wallet.
Moments later, the suspects abandoned him at the said farm and sped away.
"They drove towards Mau Narok-Nakuru Road. The driver was assisted by another motorist and taken to Enaibelbel Health Centre for treatment," the police report read in part.
Following the incident, police officers attached to Olorropil Police Station visited the scene where they launched investigations aimed at tracing the suspects.
Additionally, police are also relying on the vehicle's Global Positioning System (GPS) tracker to monitor its movements.
