Former NTV journalist Kennedy Murithi held a lavish ruracio ceremony in Karen, marking the follow-up to a dowry payment event for his wife Diana Amunga Ochami.

Murithi told the press that the event held on Saturday was aimed at paying a percentage of his dowry to the family of his wife of eight years since tying the knot in 2016.

"The event was very good. I am happy that both my wife's family and my family played a critical role in making the day a success," he told the press.

"I got married in 2016 in a church wedding and we had paid the dowry, but remember, dowry haiishi, I was coming to reduce my debt and build a stronger bond between the two families."

The event was attended by National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Kitutu Chache North MP and UDA treasurer Japheth Nyakundi, Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna, former Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu and former Nairobi nominated MCA Doris Kanario.

From the media industry, Murithi was joined by former colleagues Mark Masai, Ben Kitili and Seth Olale, who moved to Citizen TV.

Other journalists who attended the event include; former NTV editor-in-chief Emmanuel Juma, former Citizen TV journalist Chemutai Goin, current Citizen TV reporter Stephen Letoo, Aby Agina of CNBC Africa, Melita Ole Tenges, Ibrahim Karanja, Ngina Kirori, Vincent Oduor, Nayioma Sampao, Geff Kirui, Vincent Achuka and Brian Muchiri of NTV.

Public Health PS Mary Muthoni Muriuki and Environmentalist Dr. Isaac Kalua Green, who is also the party leader of the Green Thinking Action Party, was also in attendance.

The two lovebirds tied the knot at the Loreto Convent Valley Road in Nairobi in March 2016.

Murithi left his position as a political reporter at NTV after Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki appointed him as his political adviser in November 2022.

The journalist, in a phone conversation with Kenyans.co.ke, revealed that he was shocked with the appointment and only learnt of it after it was made public.

"I have just seen the press release just like you have. That's my name. I have received the message of my appointment. I thank the Governor for this," stated the journalist.
