NTV Senior Political journalist Kennedy Murithi Bundi has been appointed to serve in the office of Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki.

In a statement dated Monday, November 14, Murithi was appointed to take up the position of political advisor during the Governor's second term in office.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on phone, the journalist expressed his shock noting that he only learnt of his appointment after the list was made public.

"I have just seen the press release just like you have. That's my name. I have received the message of my appointment. I thank the Governor for this," stated the journalist.

Murithi was appointed alongside Gedion Gitonga Thuranira as the economic advisor, David John Mbaya (County Attorney Nominee), Alexander Micheni Muratha (Acting County Secretary) and Stephen Nthiga Mitugo (Acting Director Human Resource).

"I have appointed the following officers to enable me serve the honorable citizens of Tharaka Nithi," announced Muthomi Njuki in a statement.

In his new capacity, the journalist will be tasked with providing political direction to the Governor as well as monitoring political trends both in the county and in the National Government among others.

At the time of his appointment, Murithi served as a senior political reporter at NTV - a position he has held since 2016 after his promotion from a QTV reporter.

This is the second time the Masinde Muliro University Graduate will be working with the Tharaka Nithi Governor after a stint as the county's Communications Director in 2017.

He, however, only held the position for a short stint before returning to NTV.

Separate Appointments

The Governor also nominated 16 individuals to serve in the position of County Chief Officers including Aggrey Karani Riungu for Medical Services and ICT, Benson Kimathi Njeru (Energy and industry) as well as Ignatius Mugambi Kigwari (Revenue and Resource Mobilization).

Other appointees were Peter Kimathi Njeru (Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries), Kelly Karimi Rwigi (Gender, Children and Social services) and James Mbae Karuku (Land, Physical planning and Housing) among others.
