Four people have been reported dead in an accident involving a bus and a Tuktuk in the Ahero area in Kisumu County.

The accident, which happened around 11 pm on Friday, March 1, occurred when the bus collided with an incoming Tuktuk while trying to overtake a lorry that was ahead of it.

According to local reports, the long-distance driver overtook the lorry at a blackspot where another major accident happened last month, leading to the crash.

The witnesses narrating the incident stated that the bus dragged the Tuktuk for several metres before coming to a halt.

Unfortunately, all the occupants of the Tuktuk died on the spot. No serious injuries were reported from the bus.

Police have detained the bus driver suspected to be at fault, to assist with investigations into the accident.

The bodies were later transferred to a nearby mortuary, while the other passengers who sustained minor injuries had first aid administered to them at the accident scene.

This comes after yet another accident involving a bus and an oil tanker which occured on Friday in Busia killed two people, and left several others nursing injuries.

Videos circulating online showed charred remains of bodies after the oil tanker burst into flames from the impact of the collision.

A police report seen by Kenyans.co.ke, states that the driver of the fuel tanker, who died on the spot, attempted to overtake another vehicle and hit the oncoming bus.

"All the victims rushed to Busia Referral Hospital where they are being attended," the police report read in part.

"While one of the deceased has not yet been identified, efforts are in progress to trace the relatives."
