New details have emerged regarding the mysterious death of a woman who was pushed from the 10th floor of an apartment in Kasarani, Nairobi, on Saturday.

Police officers launched an investigation into the incident and revealed that the deceased met her male companion (name withheld) at a club before proceeding to the short-term rental apartment for the night.

Photos from the house showed blood splattered everywhere in the living room and the bathroom.

Whereas it is not clear what happened, the deceased is believed to have been pushed to her death while the male companion sustained injuries from 10 stab wounds. He was unconscious.

The two met at an entertainment joint within Mirema Drive and left for the short-term rental house located at Mirema in Kasarani.

They are then said to have left again for a different joint where they spent time drinking in the male companion's car before returning to the house.

Earlier, witnesses at the apartment had confirmed to the press that the incident occurred in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

The body of the deceased was disfigured after falling to the ground with a thud attracting curious onlookers.

Once the officers arrived at the scene of the accident, they restricted the public from accessing the building to ensure that the crime scene area was not tampered with.

The death comes a few weeks after the DCI formed a special unit following a sudden spike in femicide cases with most of them having occurred in short-term rentals.

A report by Femicide Count Kenya shows that at least ten women died in January 2024 alone. Additionally, 504 women lost their lives between 2019 and 2024.

Protests erupted across the country, including on Valentine's Day, with Kenyans calling for action to end the killings they termed as senseless.
