An autopsy conducted by government pathologist Peter Ndegwa on Tuesday, March 5, revealed the cause of death for Joan Nzomo, the woman who fell from the 10th floor of an apartment in the Thome estate.

Detailing the circumstances of her death, Ndegwa stated that the 20-year-old died as a result of multiple injuries caused by blunt force trauma from the fall.

However, the pathologist maintained that it was still too early to ascertain whether it was a case of suicide or whether she was pushed by somebody else.

The pathologist confirmed that there were no stab wounds on the lady’s body.

“She died as a result of injuries due to blunt force trauma consistent with a fall from height. That’s my conclusion. Not stab wounds, all of them are from blunt objects so consistent with a fall from height,” Ndegwa stated.

Ndegwa however, declined to comment on the manner of the lady's death and instead noted that it was the sole duty of detectives to verify the manner of demise.

“The issue now is to establish the manner of death whether it is accidental suicide or even murder,” the pathologist noted.

On March 2, detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations launched a probe into the death of Joan Nzomo after she fell from the 10th floor of an apartment in Thome estate in Kasarani, Nairobi.

Witnesses at the scene claimed the incident occurred in the odd hours of Saturday morning following a commotion inside the apartment.

Moments later, residents stumbled upon the body of a young woman lying on the ground on suspicion of having fallen from the apartment where the commotion had been witnessed.

Following the incident, detectives cordoned off the area of the incident in a bid to establish the circumstances that led to the woman's death.

After a preliminary probe into the matter, detectives managed to arrest a 33-year-old man suspected to be behind the murder incident.
