The Public Service Commission (PSC) on Thursday dismissed reports that former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe has been hired as Head of Communications in the Ministry of Public Service.

While making the clarification, PSC chairperson Anthony Muchiri noted that no such appointment had been made, nor had the board received a request to employ her.

"For the record, the position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise," Muchiri noted.

According to PSC, CS Moses Kuria is quoted to have said "It is true except that I am not the one who appointed her but the Public Service Commission"

PSC's clarification comes three days after reports surfaced that the former TV star had landed the prestigious role courtesy of CS Moses Kuria.

Taking to his social media platforms on March 10, Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi thanked CS Kuria for the appointment.

"Congratulations, Jacque Maribe. May God bless you as you serve," Itumbi wrote.

"Thank you Moses Kuria for standing with a generation, please keep doing good and stretching your hand," the strategist added.

By the time of publishing this article, CS Kuria who was linked to the appointment was yet to respond to the clarification by the PSC Chairperson.

PSC's pronouncement on the appointment comes a month after Maribe was acquitted in the murder case of businesswoman Monica Kimani after the court found her not guilty.

In her ruling, Lady Justice Grace Nzioka stated that there was no concrete evidence to prove that the former news anchor was involved in the murder which occurred on September 19, 2018.

"The evidence of the prosecution against the second accused person did not place her in the house of the deceased on the material night. There was no evidence that she had ever communicated with the deceased," Justice Nzioka ruled.
