Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations of Saturday, March 17 arrested three Nigerians and a Kenyan in an ongoing crackdown on drugs.

In a statement, the detectives revealed that two of the foreigners were cornered by the detectives in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

"Four suspects including three Nigerian nationals have been rounded up in an ongoing crackdown on drug traffickers and peddlers in Nairobi, a joint operation being spearheaded by Anti-Narcotics and Transnational Organized Crimes detectives," read part of the statement.

They were later arrested and led the detectives to their home in Sunton, Kasarani. The officers seized suspected bhang and a package of brown powdery substance.

Additionally, the third foreigner was found with pellets of brown powdery substances leading to their arrest in an estate in Nairobi. He was detained at the Muthaiga Police Station.

On the other hand, the 25-year-old Kenyan was apprehended with a similar powdery substance hidden under the mats of his vehicle. The substance was discovered during a stop-and-search operation within Ruaka.

All suspects were booked at the Muthaiga Police Station pending testing of the drugs, further investigations and prosecution for the use and peddling of the drugs.

"The operation which extends to all counties is aimed at fighting the vice from the grassroots, with the police firmly enforcing anti-narcotic laws," read part of the statement.

As the crackdown continues, DCI on March 9, arrested three suspects in Kamulu, Kasarani Sub-County after evading a roadblock mounted by the Operation Support Unit.

The detectives were acting on intelligence that the personal vehicle was transporting the prohibited herb from the Busia border for distribution in Nairobi.

According to the report, the detectives attempted to waylay the vehicle transporting the drugs, however, the law enforcement officers pursued the car and its occupants and made the arrest, seizing a bale of bhang stashed in the vehicle.

The DCI has issued a warning to Kenyans looking to venture into get-rich-quick schemes adding that the relevant officers will ensure that drugs don't find their way into Kenyan streets.
