"We are determined to restore peace in the North Rift and all other parts of the country that have witnessed a disturbance of peace.  I received a brief on the security situation in the North Rift in a meeting with Interior and Administration of National Government officials," read the statement in part.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and his Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo were present at the meeting.

Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome and his deputies were also present at the Saturday Meeting.

The North Rift especially Kerio Valley has experienced several cases of cattle rustling which has also resulted in the loss of life.

As part of the strategy, the government in February 2023, deployed the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to assist the police in the operation.

Further, the government announced that it would open training camps for various security agencies in the area as part of the long-lasting security strategies.

On the other hand, the government also acquired advanced armoured vehicles which will be used in police operations in the area.

"The Government has in the last six months invested Ksh.7.6 Billion and will spend another Ksh29.4 Billion in the next three years under the Police Equipment Modernisation (PEM) programme to acquire sophisticated protected and mobility equipment, including Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs)," Kindiki announced on March 20.
