Mugithi artist Mary Wangare, famously known as KarehB has accussed Chavakali Boys of withholding information after her son died in an accident on April 1.

In a post shared through her Facebook page on Friday, April 5, the artist claimed that she is yet to receive communication from the school, days after she lost her son.

“I need answers. I have been a parent at Chavakali Boys for the past four years and no one has bothered to call me to discuss my son’s death,” she stated.

Kareh further noted that unknown people tried to offer bribes in certain aspects surrounding the accident that left several other students injured.

“Is my son worth 30k? Chavakali Boys; when are you planning to communicate?” she posed.

The musician further roped in Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen and the Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, faulting them for the numerous school accidents recorded in recent days.

“Government, what is your take on this Issue? Are you going to continue being silent and lose more children on the roads? What measures are you putting in place to curb the accidents doing the rounds? Do we need to resurrect Michuki?” she further questioned.

The accident, which occurred along the Mbale-Nairobi route on the night of April 1, caused a major snarl up after the driver attempted to negotiate a corner and lost control.

The police later launched a manhunt for the driver, who went missing following the crash

The Transport CS has since been under pressure from Kenyans, who are demanding his resignation faulting him for failure to instil laws to curb the accidents.

A report by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) revealed that 1,189 people died from road accidents and 3,316 were seriously injured in road accidents between January and April 2024.
