Alcoholics In Murang'a to be relocated ahead of El Nino

About 1,000 alcoholics who are being rehabilitated at the Ihura Stadium camp in Murang'a  will have to be moved in preparation of the El Nino rains.

Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria said that his government opted to change the location of the rehabilitation camp as the rains that were expected to begin this month would affect the operations at the camp.

Speaking during a visit to the Ihura Camp the governor stated that the relocation process of the first batch of alcoholics was set to begin as the month progressed. Those housed at the camp will be moved to a government facility that is being renovated at Kambirwa in Murang’a East.

This comes after the Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero urged the residents of Nairobi to help the county government prepare for the high magnitude El Nino rains. In a statement by  the County Government ,they had set up response and emergency teams in all Sub Counties but asked city inhabitants to assist by removing siltation and other materials in open drainages, to enable free flow of water.
