Amason Kingi's Nyali House Raided

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi is counting losses after his palatial house was raided on Thursday night.

The house located in Nyali, Mombasa County, is said to have been attacked by gangsters who escaped with valuables of unknown value.

Some of the stolen property included a laptop a television set, personal documents and other household electronics.

A source privy to the matter told Kenyans.co.ke that the thugs gained entry after jumping a wall surrounding the home before breaking into the main house unnoticed.

He further stated that nobody was hurt during the robbery since the governor, who was sleeping during the incident, noticed the theft after the robbers had already left.

Governor Kingi has reported the incident to Nyali Police Station and urged the officers to conduct speedy investigations into the matter.

This comes a few weeks after he was involved in a tussle with the government when his bodyguards together with those of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho were withdrawn.

Coast officials, however, explained that the aides had been temporarily withdrawn as a routine reorganisation of security apparatus in the region.

The governors' guards were later reinstated despite the issue eliciting a fierce reaction from Opposition leaders who claimed that the government was trying to intimidate the two county bosses.
