Ardhi House to Halt Services as Lands Ministry Digitises Records

Lands Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi has sent out an important announcement to all Kenyans who receive services at the ministry's Ardi House headquarters.

Kaimenyi announced that operations at his ministry’s headquarters will be disrupted from January 9th until February 14th.

The disruption will affect land rent clearance certificates, consent to transfer and charge, and other related land administration processes.

The month-long closure is meant to enable the ministry load all its records to an electronic platform such that all land transactions will be conducted on the digital platform.

The ministry has in the past battled a negative perception from Kenyans who have had to endure slow services done through the manual system.

Land cartels have also taken advantage of the weakness in the existing system, stealing land through forged titles as well as duplicate issuance of ownership documents.

At the moment, 13 land registries have moved on to the digital platform where services such as application and search for title deeds are done through electronic transactions.
