Bar Owner Shot After Calling Gunman by Name

A Kiambu bar owner was on Tuesday shot dead by thugs after identifying one of them.

Four gunmen are reported to have made their way into the bar in Gitaru area, Kikuyu at 1am, before demanding cash and other valuables.

According to Kiambu County Commander James Mugera, a shootout ensued after the bar owner called one of the suspects by his name.

A customer was also shot and killed on the spot in the early morning incident, after he reportedly resisted to be robbed.

Police said that the robbers escaped with money of unknown value and that they had launched a man hunt on them.

Meanwhile, three suspected thugs were gunned down at Dandora in Nairobi as they attempted to steal from a residential house.

Police are said to have responded promptly to the scene after an alarm was raised, killing the three while two others escaped on foot.

The law enforcers have intensified operations owing to the high crime levels during the festive season.
