Baringo Senator Gideon Moi Responds to Deputy President William Ruto Attacks

The political rivalry between Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Deputy President (DP) William Ruto took a new twist on Sunday after the former President's son sent a warning to the DP.

Speaking at Emining in Baringo County, Mr Moi demanded that the DP appreciate the agreement KANU Party made with Jubilee to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election come August elections.

Moi stated that Ruto ought to read between the lines on KANU’s position that support for the President also amounted to the DP’s win in the General Election.

"We, as KANU, have granted them support. An Uhuru win means a win for his deputy, but I wonder why he keeps pursuing me,” said Moi.

The Senator urged Ruto to keep off and stop the barrage of attacks directed at him to gain political mileage, adding that sowing discord in the region was counterproductive.

Moi added that the Kalenjin community needed peace and any leader moving around the region, mudslinging and insulting others should stop propaganda and instead campaign peacefully with an aim of preaching unity and educate the citizens on the need to vote.

The KANU Chairman further called on all the aspirants to stick to the truth, preach peace and accept the will of the people after the August polls.

Ruto and Moi have for long been at loggerheads with each one of them trying to prove he calls the shot as the region’s political kingpin.
