Bashe Nure Hassan Killed After KDF Foils Attack on Camp in Kuday

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) working alongside other Amisom troops on Saturday morning killed a senior Al Shabaab commander after a failed attack on an army base.

According to a press statement from the Ministry of Defence, Bashe Nure Hassan was killed after the militants attempted to overrun a Somalia National Army camp in Kuday.

The Kenyan troops responded hastily and supported their Somalia counterparts using mortars and machine gun fire to repulse the terrorists.

In the ensuing fire exchange, 2 militants including Hassan were neutralised while many others are said to have sustained injuries.

The Commander was described as a resident who had been born and brought up in the area before joining the terror group some years back.

The soldiers recovered three AK47 rifles, 11 magazines, a satellite phone and 290 rounds of ammunition from the terrorists.

Fortunately, the troops did not sustain any casualties from the failed ambush.

KDF maintained that it would remain vigilant and continue to relentlessly pursue the terrorists to ensure peace and security of the country.
