Bishop Margaret Wanjiru Arrested at City Park Polling Centre

Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant Bishop Margaret Wanjiru is set to he arraigned in court today following her arrest on Wednesday evening.

Bishop Wanjiru, who spent the night at Parklands Police Station, is expected to face various charges including disruption and destruction of polling materials.

Wanjiru was apprehended for storming City Park polling centre and causing disruption.

She is said to have led her supporters in storming the centre and destroying voting materials, claiming that there was a mix up in the ballot papers.

"I am calling upon the National Elections Board to repeat the elections for City park market polling station since the exercise at this station started at 3 pm and we have now found ballot papers for Dagoretti here," she said.

Prior to her arrest, Wanjiru claimed that she had discovered ballot papers of Dagoretti South were at the centre, vowing that she would report the matter to the Jubilee Headquarters.

She was arrested amid the chaos and taken to Parklands Police Station. 

Wanjiru is contesting for the Jubilee ticket against Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth.
