Bishop Urges Luhya Community to Apologise for Using Witchcraft on President Moi's Car

A Bishop in Bungoma County has condemned an incident where he claimed local residents used witchcraft to embarrass a sitting Kenyan President.

Maurice Wanjala, who heads the Bungoma Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of All Nations (P.E.F.A) ministry, stated that the Luhya community has been unable to produce a president due to the incident that he claimed took place in 1991.

According to Wanjala, President Daniel Arap Moi had planned a visit to Nzoia but was to pass by Bungoma.

He narrated that at the time, local residents were angry with the then KANU government and decided to put witchcraft paraphernalia on the road Moi’s motorcade was meant to use.

Wanjala further narrated that Moi’s car broke down, making it impossible to reach his destination and subsequently cancel the trip.

The man of the cloth stated that the embarrassing act by the residents undermined a God-chosen leader and alleged that the region had been cursed never to produce a Head of State.

Wanjala stated that the only way forward is for local leaders in Luhya-land to meet former President Moi and apologise on behalf of the region.
