One of Kenya’s popular gospel musicians has found himself in unprecedented trouble after he was linked to a Sh500 Million case where the British Government is an interested party.
Alex Apoko, popularly known by his stage name Ringtone, has been accused of invading the house of a deceased tycoon identified as Roger Bryan Robson.
The late was a single Kenyan citizen with British ancestry and had left behind a will donating his wealth to his son and to various charity organizations in Nairobi.
However, implementation of the will has stalled after his Karen land was invaded by among others, musician Ringtone.
Michael Robson, the brother to the deceased, has now brought in the British Foreign Office to ensure the estate of the late is administered in accordance with his will.
Michael told the British Government to act on the the high-level corruption, life-threatening intimidation and criminal seizure of estate assets that has negatively impacted on the beneficiaries of the will.
The execution of the will was under the management of lawyer Guy Elms who has in the past been initimaded and harassed for trying to evict the invaders.
Elms has been held at gunpoint in his home, shot at while in his car, and he and members of his business have received death threats on several occasions.
Michael, who lives in Britain, has also exposed a conspirancy between officials at the lands registry, company registry, and office of director of public prosecutions as part of those who are aiding the invaders.
The DPP’s office ruled that the will made by Robson was forged and ordered the arrest and prosecution of the will executor.
Michael has stated that his brother’s will, which left his estate to the Kenya Wildlife Service and the Kenya Forest Service, was genuine.
He added that even if Kenyan authorities were to determine that the document was forged, he was supposed to inherit his brother’s property given that he would be the next of kin by virtue of being the closest living relative.
It remains to be seen what action the British government will take on the matter.
