Bungoma Referral Hospital remained closed for hours today, Thursday after health workers took to the streets to demonstrate against delayed salaries.
The health workers claimed that they had not received May's salary yet and were finding it hard to cope.
Most claimed that they were being hounded by their landlords over rent and that their bills were long overdue.
Patients who had come in for health services had to go back home, others opting to go to other hospitals.
Some complained that it was unfair for the workers to refuse to serve them, especially since some were seriously sick.
Citizen Tv reports that the demonstration eventually came to an end after some workers got notifications from their banks that their salaries had been deposited.
