Charity Ngilu Reveals How Failing to Support Kalonzo Affected Her

Former Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu has apologised to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for opposing him in the region.

Speaking at a meeting that brought together leaders from the Kamba Community yesterday, Ms Ngilu revealed that her opposition to Mr Kalonzo had thwarted her political ambitions on several occasions.

Ngilu disclosed that she had lost elections every time she had gone to the opposing side that the Kamba community and the Wiper leader was.

“I opposed him in 2007 and lost and again in 2013. This is not going to happen again,” said Ngilu.

She further revealed that she had handed the defunct Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) a major blow after she supported Jubilee.

The National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) party leader noted that her last-minute decision proved to be a major factor in swaying votes from the region that swept Jubilee to power.

Ngilu apologised to the community and threw her weight behind Kalonzo's bid to be the National Super Alliance’s (NASA) flag-bearer.

Her move was supported by other leaders present at the meeting including Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana who said that Mr Musyoka was the best candidate to fly the presidential flag.

Kivutha said that Kalonzo was a safe bet to save Kenya from the ills it is currently facing and asked him to prevail upon them to speak to other NASA co-principals to support his bid.
