Chiefs to Stop Opposition Politicians from Speaking

The Bungoma County Commissioner has ordered local chiefs in his region to snatch microphones from anti-government politicians addressing the public.

Commissioner Maalim Mohamed told the local administrators that it was their responsibility to defend the government.

“Why should you allow somebody with a microphone to sell lies about the government?” Maalim was quoted by the Star. “You had better go and snatch away the microphone.”

Mohamed, who was speaking on Saturday after issuing 41 motorbikes to the administrators, asked them to support the Jubilee government saying that it was doing a good job.

He also urged the chiefs to mobilize residents to apply for identity cards, while those who were yet to pick their documents to do so within a month.
