City Robbers Come Up With New Way of Stealing From Commuters

Many city dwellers have complained of being robbed of their phones and other valuables when boarding matatus especially during rush hour.

According to sources, these petty thieves have devised a new way of taking what is rightfully yours.

As you wait patiently for a matatu, an old lady walks up to you and laments how she is stranded and has nowhere to go after arriving from upcountry.

She claims that she has misplaced her phone and pleads with you to call one of her children or relatives so that she can be rescued from this situation.

You oblige and after several attempts to call the number you have been given, you inform her that no one is picking the calls.

She thanks you for your kind gesture and walks away.

Once you board the matatu, two people come and seat around you.

One suddenly claims that they have been robbed of their phone in the matatu and insist that the ‘robber’ has not alighted.

When they try to call their number, it rings in your pocket and you end up being kicked out of the matatu for alleged robbery.

Apparently, they are the people you called as you tried to help the old lady and since your number registered on their phone, once they call your phone will ring.

Nairobi residents have been urged to be on the lookout for these notorious gangs especially when helping strangers in the streets.
