Court Issues Arrest Warrant Against Cyprian Nyakundi in Case Against Safaricom's Bob Collymore

The High court on Wednesday issued a warrant for arrest against controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi after he failed to appear in court for sentencing in a defamation case filed by Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore.

Presiding over the case, Justice Lucy Njuguna ruled for the immediate arrest of Nyakundi who has snubbed court for three times now.

Last week, Judge Mwihaki gave Nyakundi the last chance to appear in court for sentencing after continually defaming Mr Collymore in his publications.

The blogger, however, failed to show up on Wednesday.

In 2016, Collymore sued Nyakundi for publishing defamatory articles in which he purported that Safaricom was exploiting Kenyans.

Despite the court barring him from publishing defamatory statements against the Safaricom boss, Nyakundi disobeyed the court and continued to do so.

The Safaricom CEO wants Nyakundi committed to civil jail for disobeying the court order issued on July 18, 2016.
