Don't Campaign In Western - Oparanya Tells Uhuru, Ruto

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya on Sunday warned President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to stop campaigning in the Western Region.

Speaking in a public forum, Oparanya stated that the Western people had decided that they would vote for ODM leader Raila Odinga since they were tired of the rampant corruption in the Jubilee administration.

"We are already preparing for a Raila Odinga presidency next year. Raila must win this time round. Our people are not supporting Uhuru Kenyatta also because of rampant corruption in the Jubilee administration," the Governor said.

The ODM deputy party leader also questioned where Ruto gets the huge chunks of money he donates in Harambees during his Western tours yet his salary is only Sh1.5 Million per month.

"When Uhuru comes to Western, he only gives promises. William Ruto is always visiting Western armed with sacks of money. He has been giving a minimum of Sh2 million per harambee yet his salary is only Sh1.5 million. Where does he get all the money he dishes out?" Oparanya posed.

The Governor claimed that Odinga had the best chance to clinch the Presidency in the upcoming General Election stating that Kenyatta and Ruto had failed to tackle the graft issue.

The President and his deputy have been pitching camp in Western to try and woo voters despite the region having voted overwhelmingly for CORD in 2013 elections.

A section of leaders in Western have already shifted to Jubilee including Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka and other legislators.
