Don't Force Smaller Parties in Ukambani to Join Wiper - Kalonzo Tells Muthama

CORD co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday, during a funeral in Matungulu Machakos County, warned Senator Johnson Muthama to stop forcing smaller parties in Ukambani to fold and join the Wiper Party.

Addressing mourners at the burial of former Paramount Chief Savano Maveke, Muthama told the constituents to only vote for candidates vying on Wiper and reject those running on different parties.

It's these remarks that seem to have irked the former vice president who in turn told the senator that the parties were “part of the larger family” of Wiper.

“I want to correct Senator Muthama here on the issue of those other parties... We all belong to the same family as they also have the right to exist,” Kalonzo affirmed.

Kalonzo's sentiments were echoed by former Kathiani Member of Parliament (MP) Wavinya Ndeti who said: “The voters must be granted the opportunity to elect who they want."

In November 2016, Kalonzo told off Muthama after he made a similar call of dissolving smaller parties to join Wiper during a rally at Sultan Hamud, Makueni County.

Muthama, who seemed to have been angered by Kalonzo's remarks, stormed out of the gathering accompanied by his convoy and sped off to Nairobi.
