Duale Reveals Who Should be Punished in Waiguru Saga

Majority Leader Aden Duale has told President Uhuru Kenyatta to ignore pressure from the public to eject Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru from office.

Duale said that the President would not be intimidated and coerced to work on anybody's demand.

Speaking at a press conference, where he was accompanied by ten other MPs, Duale said that the Principal Secretary  Peter Magiti should be punished for releasing vital documents that revealed rot in the Ministry. Duale further claimed that the documents were fictitious.

Waiguru has been under fire after a recent report by the Parliamentary Accounts Committee revealed ridicuolus purchases amounting to Sh8 Billion. Among the expenses considered most extravagant, was the purchase of  ballpoint pens worth Sh8,500 each, a Sh1.7 Million touch screen television, carpets worth Sh3.8 Million and 18 condom dispensers at Sh450,000.

The CS, however, denied linkages to the graft cases at the Ministry insiting that she was just a whistle blower. In a statement the Devolution CS indicated in the last three months, she had been viciously attacked by the media and the ill intended move was a mere distraction from the work the Ministry had been doing in the last two years.

She added that procuring was not part of her work and that the accounting officers were responsible for the purchases. “I do not procure. I do not purchase anything for the ministry. I don't sign or negotiate contracts.”Waiguru stated.
