Eldoret Pastor Shines in KCSE Results

A 41-year-old Eldoret pastor shocked his congregation after he performed exemplary well in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.

Mike Bitok, a senior pastor at Now International Church in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County scored an impressive mean grade of A with an aggregate of 81 points.

Church faithfuls were amazed at the example set by their pastor who had not gotten the privilege to go to school during his latter years.

"I was not privileged to go to school because my mother was married to an elderly man as a sixth wife.  The man did not attach great importance to education so I ended up in the streets of Eldoret as an urchin," Bitok was quoted by the Standard.

The man of God registered as a private student for the national exams to challenge himself and prove to the young generation that anything was possible.

The father of two also sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination in 2011 and scored 396 marks out of the possible 500.

The 2015 KCSE examination undertaken by 525,802 candidates was released on Thursday by Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i.
