Eliud Owalo Warns Raila Against Imposing Rosemary's Candidature for Kibra MP

CORD leader Raila Odinga’s political ally and former Campaign manager Eliud Owalo has warned that ODM stands to lose the Presidency if they do not conduct fair primaries for the Kibra parliamentary seat.

Owalo issued the warning shortly after Odinga’s daughter, Rosemary, declared that she would be contesting to become the next Kibra MP on an ODM ticket.

Rosemary made the announcement on Saturday at a political rally held at the famous Kamukunji grounds in Kibera.

Owalo had earlier declared his intention to run for the same seat on the orange party ticket.

"Raila should choose between reclaiming the Kibra parliamentary seat through his daughter Rosemary and the Presidency. He will not get both seats at the same time," Owalo stated in a tough-worded statement.

The former aide to Raila further attacked CORD leaders who attended Rosemary’s launch, terming it as “juvenile misplaced excitement and unparalleled sycophancy”.

He stated that ODM’s lack of internal democracy would deny it the moral authority to call for fair polls in this year’s General Election.

Owalo was the head of the CORD secretariat in the 2013 General Election and is credited for his role in organising Odinga’s unsuccessful presidential campaign.
