End of Sonko Rescue Team

Nairobi Senator Gideon Mbuvi Sonko has disbanded the Sonko Rescue Team pledging to donate the resources to the County Government of Nairobi.

Sonko made the announcement during his father's burial on Tuesday at his rural home, Mua Hills in Machakos County.

The move is seen as the beginning of a new working relationship between the Senator and Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.

Sonko said that among the resources that would be handed over to the county government were the Sonko Rescue Team ambulances which are now expected to go a long way in serving residents of Nairobi.

The team was an initiative started by the flamboyant Senator in a bid to offer free and diverse services to various people in need.

The initiative however, was not received well by Governor Kidero who argued that the move undermined his administration.

A section of Kenyans also criticized the project terming it a publicity stunt aimed at drawing more people to the Senator who had already declared his interest to become the next governor of Nairobi.
