Police in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, have launched investigations into the mysterious killing of a senior Equity Bank manager.
The deceased, identified as Elias Runji, is said to have been accosted by unknown gunmen who carjacked him as he arrived at his home in Runguri area, Kikuyu.
According to family members, they heard Mr Runji drive towards his home at around 9pm Friday, but shortly later, a brief confrontation was heard at the gate before his vehicle sped off.
The family members promptly alerted the police after attempts to reach Runji through his cell phone bore no fruit.
According to Kikuyu OCPD Bigen Kiptoo, they managed to track the vehicle through the late's mobile phone signals, only to find Runji shot below the shoulder.
“The signals drove us to arrive at Red Hill where we found the car inside tea plantation with its bonnet and boot opened. His body was inside.” Kiptoo said.
The motive of the attack remains unknown.
