KeNHA Announces 8-Hour Traffic Disruption Along Mombasa Road on April 26

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced an eight-hour traffic disruption along Mombasa Road that will take place this coming weekend.

In a notice on Sunday morning, KeNHA stated that the disruption would take place between 10pm on Saturday, April 26, and 6am on Sunday, April 27.

Nairobi-bound motorists are expected to be affected by this disruption, which has been set to allow for the installation of the fabricated footbridge beams.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Mombasa Road (A8) near Katani Road Junction will experience traffic disruption along the Nairobi bound lanes from Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10.00pm to Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 6.00am," the statement read.

"This is to allow for the installation of the fabricated footbridge beams. KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site."

According to the map provided by KeNHA, motorists making their way to the capital have been urged to take the indicated routes to avoid disruptions in the disruption.

They are expected to use the service lane on roads adjacent to the Katani Road Junction all the way from Mlolongo.

The disruption is expected to highly affect travellers taking advantage of the open roads and choosing to drive at night for their weekend plans.

This is the second notice KeNHA has issued that is expected to disrupt traffic on the busy highway that connects commuters to the two biggest cities.

On Wednesday, April 16, the authority announced a similar disruption along the highway for Mombasa-bound motorists to allow for the installation of fabricated footbridge beams in the area.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Mombasa Road (A8) near Katani Road Junction will experience traffic disruption along the Mombasa-bound lanes from Saturday, 19th April, 2025, at 10.00 pm to Sunday, 20th July, 2025 at 6.00 am," KeNHA noted.

"This is to allow for the installation of the fabricated footbridge beams. KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site."
