Police Officer Linda Okello was demoted after she was allegedly nabbed, on Saturday, with bribe money during an undercover operation at Kirigiti area, Kiambu County.
Two of her colleagues are reported to have escaped from the scene leaving Ms Okello who was found with Sh1,000 in her pocket, prompting disciplinary action to be taken on her.
The officer was reportedly demoted upon orders from Traffic Commandant Jacinta Muthoni, from being a corporal to a constable. The move is said to have sparked mixed rections within the police force with some demanding for intervention by the Courts.
Speaking to the Star on Tuesday, Ms Muthoni said she would not comment on the issue.
"I cannot comment on administrative issues. Who leaked the information? I will not comment; ask the higher authorities," she said.
In 2014, Ms Okello sprung to public limelight after images of her in a tight and short skirt, while on duty, emerged online.
