Female University Student Arrested for Robbery

A female university student was arrested over the weekend alongside her brother, after it was determined that they were behind multiple robbery incidents in Nairobi.

Mercy Siambi, 24, who claims to be a second year student at Kenyatta University, was found with electronic goods suspected to have been stolen from a shop within the city centre.

Ms Siambi's 29-year-old brother, Paul Agadi, was also arrested and found with a ceska pistol hours before she was nabbed.

Police invaded his house at Kasarani and recovered laptops, a dozen cameras, video cameras, and several master keys, the Star reports.

According to the police, preliminary investigations showed that Agadi, a father of two, dropped out of Technical University in 2010 and has since been engaging in robberies in Nakuru and Nairobi.

In his testimony to officers at Central Police Station, Agadi admitted to stealing goods and storing them at his sister's house in Mwiki area, Kasarani, after which she would sell them to shops in Nairobi.

Police confirmed that the items recovered had been stolen from Gilfillan House last week. Security guards at the building said five armed men invaded the premises and tied them up before stealing goods from the shops.

Nairobi CID boss Ireri Kamwende confirmed the incident saying the two would be arraigned in court on Monday.
