Former Ast. Minister Betty Tett Cleared Of Murder Allegations

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko has acquitted former Assistant Minister Betty Tett from allegations that she had plotted to kill a Scangroup's Executive officer.

Police had alleged that Tett had hired a former convicted criminal, John Wachira Linus, to kill Andrew John Laird White.

White is the co-founder of Nairobi based advertising company, Scangroup and was an top official in the firm.

Wachira had linked Tett to the attempted murder.

Investigations had shown that Tett had allegedly paid Wachira to kill White, only for Wachira to ask White for more money to spare his life.

Wachira allegedly showed the Scangroup's officer text messages between him and Tett, indicating a plot to kill him.

Reports indicated that Tett and White had a fall out after he (White) pulled out of an advertisement business they operated together, the Business Daily reports.

The DPP on Friday, however, cleared Tett of any involvement in the attempted murder and has launched charges against Wachira for providing false information to the police.
