Former ODM Official's Son Kills His Father Over Exams

A son to a former official of the Orange Democratic Movement party is now glaring at murder charges after attacking his father in Nairobi's South-C estate.

Dr Michael Amolo who was the husband of ex-ODM Chair in Homa Bay County, Monica Amollo, succumbed to injuries on Monday at the Mater Hospital in Nairobi after he was stabbed 18 times by his son.

Dad Junior, 25, is reported to have grabbed his father at their backyard then stabbed him severally on the neck and head using a kitchen knife, before threatening to attack his sister.

The sister rushed to her bedroom then locked herself as she called for help.

The April 24 incident was apparently sparked by an argument between Junior and his father, after the suspect skipped taking an exam at the Kenya Flying School, Wilson Airport.

According to Lang'ata OCPD Elijah Mwangi, before meeting his death, Dr Amolo had in the evening inquired from his daughter on the whereabouts of his son.

Sources indicate that the fatal scuffle ensued in the morning after the rebelious son returned.

The attacker was later disarmed and taken to Lang'ata Police Station with neighbours rushing his father to the Mater Hospital.

The tragic cold-blood act comes a year after the suspect's mother died in a grisly road accident alongside four other passengers in Homa Bay.

Dr Amolo was a paediatrician at the Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu after previously working as the Nyanza Provincial Medical Officer of Health.
