Gangster Killed in Shootout With Police

Two suspected gangsters were shot by police after a robbery operation went awry in Nyali, Mombasa county.

The two were part of a four member gang that had attacked a home in Nyali Estate Tuesday and roped security guards before proceeding to rob one of the houses.

A report by The Nation however indicates that one of the guards managed to free himself and called the police.

The police, having gotten the description and number plate of the gang's get away car, had it stopped at a road block.

The suspects allegedly escaped on foot, fleeing into a nearby mangrove forest.

A squad of about 20 police men went after the them and the 2 hour gun battle that would ensue, would see one suspect killed, one sustain gun shot injuries while the other two escaped.

Although the suspected gangsters had masks on during the robbery, eye witnesses have identified one of them as a woman.

Police investigations continue.
