Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo Loses Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Nominations

Gem Member of Parliament (MP) Jakoyo Midiwo has lost the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominations.

The MP, who is also ODM leader Raila Odinga's cousin, lost to Elisha Odhiambo who garnered 10,590 votes against Midiwo's 8,950.

The long-serving Gem lawmaker, however, stated that he would appeal the decision to the ODM National Election Board stating that the process was marred by irregularities.

" I will not accept those results and I will appeal the decision because the election was marred by a lot of irregularities and someone in the party is rigging me out," he stated

In the Gubernatorial race, incumbent Siaya governor Cornel Rasanga floored his bitter rivals, Rarieda Member of Parliament Nicholas Gumbo and William Oduor.

The returning officer declared governor Rasanga the winner after garnering 143,446, followed by Mr Gumbo who managed to get 87,467 while Oduor was third with 9,535 votes.

However, it was a field day for the Siaya Senator James Orengo who won the party nomination with a landside and is on course to retain his seat.
