Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong' could find himself in trouble with the law, after the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko ordered his prosecution for allegedly sending offensive messages to a woman.
Ojaamong' reportedly admitted using his phone to send abusive messages to Esther Mayieka, with whom he has two children but insisted that his intention was not to annoy her.
The office of the DPP said on Thursday that it had gathered enough evidence to charge the governor for the offense.
The Busia County boss had previously been ordered by a court to pay school fees and child sustenance for the twins born in 2004. The court was told that Esther cohabited with the governor from 2003 until the children were born when he dumped her and moved out of the house with everything they owned.
Meanwhile, the DPP has also ordered charges against Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua for abuse of office.
The patron of Maendeleo ChapChap movement will be charged for the irregular purchase of 16 vehicles for his executive commitee members. According to the prosecutor, Mutua unlawfully awarded the tender for the pre-used motor vehicles to Extreme Auto Ltd.
