Gunmen Storm High School, Shoot at KCSE Candidates

Two gunmen on Tuesday afternoon stormed a school in Wajir County where students were sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam.

Reports indicate that the armed men forced their way into Abaqkorey High School and opened fire at the candidates just a few minutes after they had started their History paper.

According to police, students scampered for safety after they heard gunshots before the assailants fled into a nearby bush.

Confirming the incident, Habaswein police boss Caleb Wesa divulged that no student was injured and that they had launched a man hunt for the two men.

“It was around 11am when they began shooting. We are yet to establish the motive behind the attack but we are investigating the matter,” Wesa stated.

The teachers counselled the students before they were moved to a nearby primary school where they sat for the paper under heavy security.
