High Court Orders Millie Odhiambo to Record Statement at Parliament Police Station Over Uhuru Remarks

Mbita Member of Parliament (MP) Millie Odhiambo was on Thursday directed to present herself before Parliament OCS and record a statement over remarks she made against President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Making the announcement, High Court judge James Wakiaga, stated that the MP should be accompanied by her lawyers but ordered police officers not to arrest her.

On December 21, the MP lost her cool during a special sitting in parliament and called Kenyatta a “fake President”.

"Uhuru should start packing for his journey back to Gatundu as he is a fake President, as his own backyard is poor," Millie said.

The sitting had been convened by speaker Justin Mututi to discuss the controversial Electoral laws that were passed by Jubilee MPs.

However, Kenyatta didn't seem to be irked by the remarks and said that the National Assembly was a house of democracy where people had the freedom to insult him.

Millie had earlier moved to court seeking orders to bar police officers from arresting or confining her to house arrest over the remarks.

At the time, the MP claimed that she had been threatened and was undergoing psychological torture.
