How Jacob Juma's Family Will 'Punish' His Killers

The relatives of slain businessman Jacob Juma have indicated that they will be avenging the brutal killing of their kin.

Grisham Juma – one of the relatives – expressed that Batura clan elders are set to conduct traditional rituals to punish those behind the death of Mr Juma.

Juma will be buried with a lit torch and a knife as Luhya customary rites dictate for a renowned person whose life is cut short by killers.

According to a source conversant with the Luhya traditions, the lit torch will help Juma hunt for his killers any time of day or night and he will use the knife upon meeting them.

The torch will be put in the casket while lit and it is strongly believed that when it goes off, Juma’s killers could run mad, die in an accident or get struck by a bad omen.

The slain businessman was shot dead on May 5, in an incident that security agents later confirmed to be an assassination by a hit squad.

On Thursday, a requiem mass was held at the All Saints Cathedral which was followed by a public viewing of the body at Uhuru Park.

CORD principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and other leaders joined the family in eulogising the bold critic of the Jubilee Government.

At the Mass, the deceased's widow Miriam Juma expressed that she was shocked that police claim that they are investigating the murder of her husband, yet not even a single police officer had questioned her in regard to the incident.
