How Muslims Used Bags to Save Christians in Bus Attack

Details have now emerged revealing how Muslims defended Christians in Monday's Mandera bus attack.

According to the passengers, a group of gunmen began spraying bullets on the bus in a bid to stop it, before ordering out everyone on board.

Ali Teno told Citizen TV that they hid more than 8 Christians under the seats, covering them with luggage.

Muslim women in the bus are said to have given their hijabs to cover Christian women, making it difficult for the suspected Al Shabaab Militiamen to separate passengers based on religion.

Survivors divulged that the gunmen made them line up on the road, attempting to split them and that is when they told the militants, 'kill us all, there are no Christians here'.

Reports indicated that there were 12 Christians in the bus which was ferrying about 100 passengers to Mandera from Nairobi.

Two people were shot dead while three others sustained gunshot injuries during the attack.

The act of defiance and unity against the terrorists has been lauded by many including President Uhuru Kenyatta, who urged Kenyans in his Christmas message, to stand together at all times.

“This is the Kenyan spirit that we must uphold and honour. At Diwali, at Idd, at Christmas, we must always stand together as our brothers' and sisters' keeper.”

Last year, 28 passengers were massacred when al shabaab militants attacked a Nairobi-bound bus in Mandera.
