How Raila Wants Uhuru to Act Like Jaramogi Odinga

Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Saturday challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to emulate the ideals that were envisioned by his late father (Raila’s) Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

The CORD leader highlighted that President Kenyatta ought to tackle the challenges that the late Jaramogi was fighting to stem - illiteracy, corruption, theft of public resources and poor health care.

Speaking during a function in honour of his father and late son Fidel Odinga, the former Prime Minister urged the President to put into consideration the role Jaramogi Odinga played during the clamour for independence.

“Jubilee is keen on cancelling the gains achieved by the great people who worked with Jaramogi. We will not allow a reversal of gains on things that our founding fathers fought for,” Mr Odinga said, at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology in Bondo.

Odinga strongly faulted the ruling coalition, noting that Jubilee must not be allowed a second term in office following allegations of corruption against the Treasury, Kenya Revenue Authority, Supreme Court, office of the Deputy President, among other state departments.

“We are telling Jubilee that we will not allow them to take us back to the dark days.....We will not be cowed by attempts to silence us in our support bases or anywhere in this country,” Mr Odinga said.

The ODM leader further accused the Government of disregarding the constitution, citing amendments to statute laws.

The Opposition leader has consistently turned up the heat on Kenyatta’s Government of various issues with the latest being the controversial closure of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s businesses and the Eurobond saga.
