Isaack Hassan In Trouble

Parliamentary Oversight Authority Committee (PAC) has threatened to issue summons against Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's Chairman Isaack Hassan for contempt.

The IEBC Chairman upon invitations has three times failed to appear before the house committee.

Hassan is being probed over issues raised in the procurement of the Electronic Voter Identification Devices used in 2013's General election, as per a special report by the Auditor-General.

The report indicated that if competitive bidding was a success, a sum of Sh4 Billion could have been enough to purchase the Biometric Voter Registration kits (BVR) to register Kenyans for the elections.

The Auditor General's report however revealed that the figure went up to Sh6.2 Billion.

According to PAC Chairman Nicholas Gumbo, Mr. Hassan has been making constant excuses to avade appearing before the committee claiming to be out of the country.

The  House Committee believes that Issack Hassan has something to hide.

IEBC Vice Chairperson Lillian Mahiri-Zaja  also risks to be jailed or fined because just as her boss she skipped the session which ought to have happened on Tuesday.
