Jadudi Diagnosed with Another Brain Tumour

University of Nairobi (UON) student Emmanuel Otieno popularly known as Jadudi, has been diagnosed with another brain tumour less than eight months, after he underwent a successful brain surgery to remove a cancerous growth in his brain.

Africa Cancer Foundation Chief Executive Officer Zawadi Nyong’o made the announcement on Twitter after speaking to Jadudi who had gone back to India for his first medical review since his surgery in August 2015.

Nyong'o said that Jadudi was undergoing several tests, including the electroencephalogram (EEG), which is used to detect abnormalities related to the electrical activity of the brain.

"Jadudi was supposed to be gone for two weeks, but he said he was not really looking forward to the trip and hoped he would be done and back home within a week," she said.

Jadudi, who is a third year Political Science and Sociology student at the University of Nairobi, was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour in 2012 after suffering from migraines for a long time.

After his plight was highlighted by blogger Biko Zulu through a post titled 'That Thing In Jadudi’s Head', Kenyans launched a social media campaign dubbed #1MiliForJadudi in which Sh6 Million was raised in 28 hours, surpassing the target of Sh1 Million.

The money enabled Jadudi, who had Grade III Ependymoma to fly to Chennai, India where he underwent a four-hour brain surgery at Apollo Hospital.
