Janet Mbugua Set to Leave Citizen TV

Popular Citizen TV anchor Janet Mbugua is reportedly in the process of handing in her resignation to her employer, Royal Media Services (RMS).

A well-placed source at the station confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that Ms Mbugua is about to leave the media house.

When speculations of her move first came to light, it was alleged that it was because of veteran journalist Jeff Koinange, who recently joined the team.

According to the reports, Koinange was given a huge salary compared to Ms Mbugua and Hussein Mohammed who co-anchors with her on Citizen TV's Monday Special show.

Nonetheless, Mr Koinange dismissed the allegations stating that Citizen TV was one happy family and the information making rounds were only but rumours.

According to the source, who sought to remain anonymous, the anchor has been 'up and down '. He, however, added that Mr Hussein was not exiting the station as earlier rumoured.

Ms Mbugua had not responded to our calls and message by the time of publishing.

At the same time, Business Today reported that the journalist had landed a lucrative job with the Red Cross Society. As per the report, Ms Mbugua would be working as the communication and advocacy director.

Kenyans.co.ke could not independently verify this.
