Joho and Uhuru Expected to Meet at the Burial of Nderitu Gachagua in Nyeri

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho will on Monday have the first public encounter with President Uhuru Kenyatta since the dramatic incident where he openly criticised the head of state at a public meeting in Mvita Constituency.

Joho, who jetted back from the US on Sunday, is currently attending the burial of former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua which will be graced by President Kenyatta.

The ODM deputy party leader will also be joined by his party boss Raila Odinga who jetted in from Nigeria for the burial.

Gachagua passed on two weeks ago at a London hospital where he was being treated for pancreatic cancer.

His body was brought to the country on Thursday, February 24, to an emotional reception at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The funeral procession left the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi at 8:00 am.

The burial of the late Nyeri County Governor will be attended by top dignitaries in the country, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto as well as governors, senators, MPs and other leaders.

His deputy, Samuel Wamathai, has since been sworn in and taken over as the Nyeri County boss.
